Public asked to line route of soldier who died in Iraq
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2008

Pfc. Jack T. Sweet, who was killed Friday in Iraq, will return to Fort Drum's Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield at 1 p.m. today, and a motorcade will then bear him to his hometown of Alexandria Bay.

Pfc. Sweet, 19, was a member of the 1st Brigade Combat Team's 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry.

The public is encouraged to honor Pfc. Sweet by lining Route 12 in the village, said James P. Costello of Costello Funeral Home. The motorcade is expected to arrive in Alexandria Bay around 2 p.m.

Calling hours are Friday at the funeral home, at 113 Church St. The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Alexandria Bay United Methodist Church followed by burial in Barnes Settlement Cemetery. (See obituary, B4.)
