LOWVILLE — Lewis County General Hospital is adding an adult nurse practitioner to its obstetrics/gynecology practice.

Selina H. Hughes, Beaver Falls, is joining the hospital-owned practice of Drs. Josefina Tan-Domingo, Ashraf Aly and Gerard Crawford. She will begin seeing patients April 14.

"Selina is a very accomplished health-care professional," Eric R. Burch, interim chief executive officer at the county-owned hospital, said. "She has been providing patient focused care for over three decades. She will be a great addition to our growing OB/GYN and Women's Health program."

Ms. Hughes comes to the hospital from Woman to Woman, Watertown. She began her education here in 1970 as a licensed practical nurse, graduated in 1993 from Jefferson Community College, Watertown, as a registered nurse and became an adult nurse practitioner in 1997 through Community General Hospital, Syracuse.

"A friend of mine, Cindy Dash, contacted me after she began working at Lewis County General as practice manager," Ms. Hughes said in a statement. "She mentioned that the hospital was seeking to hire an adult nurse practitioner and asked me if I would be interested in meeting with the interim CEO, Eric Burch, concerning the possibility of joining the medical staff. They were so convincing that I left the meeting almost positive I wanted to make the move."
