BEAVER FALLS — Findings from the inaugural community survey of Lewis County residents will be released this week.

The public presentation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the Beaver River Central School auditorium. It will include a summary of findings and methodology used in the survey, conducted by the Center for Community Studies at Jefferson Community College, Watertown. There also will be an opportunity to ask questions. Interested community members are encouraged to attend.

A sample of county residents in October was asked its opinions on several topics, including the best and worst aspects of living in Lewis County, the impact of Fort Drum and the Maple Ridge Wind Farm and types of development that should be most encouraged. Respondents also were asked for information about demographics and their use of technology, housing and transportation.

The survey is similar to one the center has conducted in Jefferson County for the past eight years.

The study was initiated by Lewis County Opportunities Inc., New Bremen, and funded by Opportunities, Community Bank N.A., the Pratt-Northam Foundation and Otis Technology Inc. Survey results, following their release, will be posted on the Opportunities and JCC Web sites.
