LOWVILLE — About 20 groups of community members participated in the village's first annual Earth Day Community Trash Cleanup.

On Tuesday, the groups used orange trash bags, donated by the state Department of Transportation, to collect trash and debris from throughout the village. Village Department of Public Works crews then collected the bags Wednesday.

The event was sponsored by the village, Lowville Business Association and Lewis County Chamber of Commerce.
