Dorcas N. Taylor

MASSENA — Dorcas N. Taylor, 87, formerly of 192 Allen St., died early Wednesday at St. Regis Nursing Home, where she had resided since June 21, 2005.

Mrs. Taylor was a registered nurse at Massena Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1982 after nearly 35 years of service.

Born July 24, 1920, daughter of Harry E. and Pauline Pratt Nims, she graduated from Massena Central School and Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing, Boston, Mass.

She had been married to Lawrence Eastman Taylor.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed many years in Florida and, in her younger years, enjoyed fishing, swimming and gardening, especially roses. She also enjoyed walking at Robert Moses State Park to look at the rose bushes and, most recently, watching the History Channel.

Surviving are a son and his wife, Lawrence and Marie, Palmetto, Fla.; a daughter, the Rev. Patricia A. Page, LaFargeville; a sister, Nancy Holliday, Bradenton, Fla.; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a niece.

Her longtime companion, Gerald "Bub" Bombard, died Sept. 8, 1995.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church chapel with the Rev. Jeffrey V. Aiosa, pastor, officiating.

There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Donaldson Funeral Home.
