FRIDAY, MAY 2, 2008

CROGHAN — A Croghan-area family has won $500 in gear by finding a hidden GORE-TEX game piece during a vacation trip to Tompkins County.

The Rev. Kenneth R. and Rosetta Landis and their three children, while searching online for information about gorges and waterfalls in Ithaca, learned about the GORE-TEX Footwear Diamond in the Rough contest, according to a release from W.L. Gore and Associates, the Delaware company that manufactures the material. On April 17, they found the game piece hidden in a sycamore tree next to Ithaca Falls.

The Rev. Mr. Landis is pastor of First Mennonite Church, New Bremen.

The contest challenges U.S. travelers to find hidden game pieces based on clues and pictures posted at www.gore-textravelfootwear.com.
