FORT COVINGTON — Evelyn A. Johnston, 93, Fort Covington, died Wednesday at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone.

Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker and worked on the family farm.

Born April 25, 1915, in Brandon, daughter of Ray E. and Lilas LaFlesh Thomas, she attended rural school.

She married Harvey W. Johnston on July 31, 1935. He died Feb. 22, 1990.

She was a member of Cooks Corner Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are five sons and four daughters-in-law, Richard and Shirley, Orlando, Fla., George and Bonnie, South Carolina, and John and Mary, Donald and Barbara, and Alvin, and his companion, Kathy Russell, all of Brushton; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Irene and James Marise, Brooksville, Fla., Dorothy Yando, and her companion, Mervin Bellows, Malone, Judy and Wilfred Henderson, Huntingdon, Quebec, and Linda and Gregory Stone, Fort Covington; a foster daughter, Rosalyn Gaetano, and her companion, Warren Legacy, Malone; 31 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Bernard and Kenneth Thomas, two sisters, Veda Marshall and Lilah LaFlesh, and five grandchildren died before her.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Cooks Corners Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Bentley McQuinn officiating. Burial will be in Stevens Cemetery, Brandon.

Arrangements are with Flint Funeral Home, Moira.

Donations may be made to Fort Covington Fire and Rescue or Cooks Corners Wesleyan Church.
