Early outburst lifts OFA to NAC win
CENTRAL DIVISION: Pitcher Wagstaff picks up first varsity victory as Blue Devils stop Potsdam

POTSDAM — Ogdensburg Free Academy scored five times in the second inning as part of a 12-3 Northern Athletic Conference Central Division softball win over Potsdam on Thursday.

Ashley Wagstaff earned her first varsity win, allowing just two hits over the last three innings in relief for OFA (3-2).

Kiana McDonough and Corina Simonelli each had RBI singles for Potsdam (2-3).

NORWOOD-NORFOLK 25,

TUPPER LAKE 11

The Flyers scored 17 runs in the opening frame and took advantage of 10 Lumberjacks errors to cruise to a Central Division win in Tupper Lake.

Rheannon Harvey hit for the cycle, going 5-for-6 with one RBI. Joanna Frego supplied three hits and two RBIs for Norwood-Norfolk (4-4 overall, 3-3 league).

Elizabeth Tvorak led Tupper Lake (0-5) with three hits and two RBIs. Jennifer Friend went 3-for-4 with one RBI in the loss.

MADRID-WADDINGTON 15, PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 7

Megan Barney picked up the win with five strong innings of work in an East Division win for the Yellow Jackets at Madrid.

Jena Cryderman went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to lead Madrid-Waddington (2-3). Cambray Merrick supplied two hits including a triple for two RBIs for the Yellow Jackets.

Jodi Foster connected for two hits and three RBIs for Parishville-Hopkinton (1-7, 1-6).

CARTHAGE 4, APW 3 (11)

Jessica Wilkinson, promoted from JV the same day, drove in Ashley Marilley's winning run in the 11th inning, and the Comets earned the Frontier League crossover victory at Carthage.

Renee Aylesworth contributed two hits and two RBIs for the Comets (4-6, 2-2).

Brooke Radley supplied two hits and an RBI, while seventh-grader Victoria Stanton also drove in a run for Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (5-3, 3-2).

LOWVILLE 4, INDIAN RIVER 3

The Red Raiders scored the winning run in the seventh inning and held on to capture the crossover game at Philadelphia.

Chelsea Hanno drove in two runs, while Jessica Becker smacked a triple, Chanelle Morse went 2-for-3, and Kim Tarasek and Traci Wood each supplied a double for Lowville.

Cheyenne Morse struck out seven in five innings, and Becker struck out six in relief for the Red Raiders (5-2, 3-2).

Felicia French went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Warriors (5-5, 2-2).

GENERAL BROWN 7, WATERTOWN 3

Chelsea Cavellier belted out two triples to help pace the Lions to a crossover victory at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.

Erica Hovey drove in two runs, while Karilynn Pfister added an RBI double for General Brown (8-5, 3-3).

Jennifer Jones went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a triple for Watertown (1-10, 0-4).

SOUTH JEFFERSON 19, IHC 5

Ashley Chartrand, Mackenzie Hall and Katie Lyndaker each generated three hits, including a double, to lead the Spartans (9-3, 5-0) to the crossover victory at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.

Jill Gullo went 3-for-3 with a double for the Cavaliers (1-6, 0-4).

SOUTH LEWIS 15, LAFARGEVILLE 3

Lindsay Paluck and Suzy Fazekas each went 3-for-4 with an RBI to help fuel the Falcons to a crossover win at LaFargeville.

Jenna Kraeger chipped in with two hits and four RBIs for South Lewis (6-2, 5-1), which recorded 18 hits.

Brittany Marriam finished with two hits and one RBI for the Red Knights (5-3, 3-3).
