SYRACUSE — Syracuse University junior Arthur Jones was placed on the 2008 Outland Trophy watch list by the Football Writers Association of America on Thursday.

The Outland Trophy is awarded annually to the best interior lineman in college football, and it will be presented on Dec. 11 in Orlando, Fla. Jones is one of 70 preseason candidates, including one of 18 underclassmen.

Jones, a defensive tackle for the Orange, ranked ninth nationally with 171/2 tackles for a loss in 2007. In his first season as a starter, he was a second-team All-Big East selection.
