Lowville resident sentenced to six months in jail

LOWVILLE — A Lowville man arrested in connection with a string of church, business and residential burglaries in December 2006 was sentenced Thursday in Lewis County Court to six months in county jail and 550 hours of community service.

Jeremy J. Lee,20, Hodge Road, Lowville, also was ordered to pay $6,377.86 restitution in conjunction with his accomplices, along with a $500 fine and $480 in court fees on charges of fourth-degree conspiracy, attempted tampering with physical evidence and driving while ability impaired, to which he pleaded guilty in May 2007. He also is to serve a five-year probation term, and his driver's license was suspended for 90 days.

Mr. Lee — whose sentencing had been adjourned for one year — was charged in connection with break-ins at several churches, businesses and residences from Lowville to Croghan.

Two accomplices —Dustin G. Houppert,of Crestview Drive, Lowville, andJoshua J. Baker,of Maple Avenue, Copenhagen, both 19 — were both granted youthful offender status Friday during sentencing on two counts apiece of third-degree burglary.

Also in Lewis County Court on Friday:

Douglas J. Nellenback,24, Lewis County jail, was sentenced to one year in county jail, $108.90 restitution and $320 in court fees on a charge of third-degree burglary, to which he pleaded guilty March 14. An eight-year order of protection was issued on the victims' behalf. Mr. Nellenback was charged with unlawfully entering the West Leyden residence of Douglas and Diane Markham on Sept. 8 and 9 and taking several items.

Robert L. Western,32, of 5487 Water St., Lowville, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of third-degree criminal sexual act, satisfying charges of first-degree criminal sexual act, first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. Sentencing was set for June 27. Mr. Western was charged in December with having inappropriate contact with an 8-year-old girl in the village of Lowville.

David D. Windover,28, of 6415 Pine Grove Road, Lowville, pleaded guilty to second-degree rape, also satisfying charges of second-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. Sentencing was set for June 27. Windover was charged with having sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl last July in the town of Diana.

Jeffrey F. Stone,50, Glenfield, pleaded guilty to felony aggravated driving while intoxicated, also satisfying charges of failure to use designated lane and inadequate plate lamp. Sentencing was set for July 18. Mr. Stone was stopped in August on Pine Grove Road in the town of Watson.

Nathan D. Weiler,23, Boonville, had two counts apiece of first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child adjourned to May 23. He was charged with having sexual contact with two girls under age 11 between September 2006 and June in the town of Leyden.
