FORT DRUM — Soldiers from the 63rd Ordnance Battalion will deploy to south Baghdad today to begin their 15-month deployment. They will support the 10th Mountain Division, which will assume command of Multi-National Division Center in coming weeks.

Explosive ordnance disposal soldiers specialize in identifying and rendering enemy explosives inoperable and will ensure the safety of coalition forces and the Iraqi people.

The battalion will assume command of five joint service EOD companies while deployed.

This is the unit's fourth deployment in the Iraq War.
