ADAMS CENTER — Benjamin L. Baker, 61, of 18160 Jefferson Courts Circle, died Sunday afternoon at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.
Mr. Baker was employed by the former Calavo Fruit Co., Sackets Harbor, and New York Air Brake Co., Watertown, and was a farmer on the Ed Cobb farm, Hounsfield, and Zahn farm, Rutland. Later, he was employed by the former Borden Milk Plant, Watertown, until it closed in 1989, and then was a truck driver for Houghton's Farm Supply, Pierrepont Manor.
Born Sept. 21, 1946, in Watertown, son of Leland and Kathleen Resseguie Baker, he attended school in Sackets Harbor.
He married Jean M. Young of Ellisburg on Aug. 19, 1967, in Sackets Harbor. The couple had lived in Adams Center since 1980.
Mr. Baker enjoyed camping.
Surviving besides his wife are his mother, Kathleen White, Sackets Harbor; two daughters and their husbands, Christine L. and Craig Proper, Newville, Pa., and Deborah A. and Sandy Lamb, Claremont, N.H.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Trudy and Henry Parker, Central Square, and Sandra Beutel, Sackets Harbor; three grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
An infant brother died before him.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
