PITCAIRN — Ronald L. Wagner, 76, Pitcairn, died Monday at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

Mr. Wagner was employed on various farms in his youth. Later, he was employed for two years at Harrisville Paper Mill. He was a papermaker for 34 years and retired from James River Paper Mill, Natural Dam.

Born Sept. 13, 1931, in Ogdensburg, son of George and Allison Blair Wagner, he was raised by his grandparents, Delbert and Ristoria Crowder, after his parents died. He attended Ogdensburg and Gouverneur schools.

He married Ada F. Hendrick on Aug. 28, 1954, at the Gouverneur Methodist parsonage.

Mr. Wagner served in the Army from 1948 to 1952.

He was a former member of Panther Mountain Hunting Club, Harrisville, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and walking their Yorkshire Terrier.

Surviving besides his wife is a niece and her husband, Vicky and Thomas Van Ornum, Gouverneur; and a great-niece and her husband, Tanya Van Ornum and Michael Stevens, Richland.

A private memorial service will be at a later date. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Edwards. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department.
