Saints unable to stop Golden Bears' Hayes
SUNDAY, MAY 11, 2008

"They saw me as a threat and decided to lock me off, which gave them some success."

McKee scored both his goals in the first half, the second of which tied the game at four in the second quarter. But St. Lawrence didn't take the lead, and when Hayes retaliated with three unanswered goals by himself, the Saints didn't threaten again.

"They executed a little bit better today," Mahoney said. "We got in that hole and it's tough to dig out of that hole against a quality team when you get to this point of the year."

Western New England snapped St. Lawrence's 11-game win streak and a 7-0 home record this season. The Saints fall to 11-3 overall while the Golden Bears improve to 15-4 and will play No. 7 Ithaca College on Wednesday.

"It's going to be awesome," Klepacki said of playing Ithaca. "I think we fought hard to play another day."

■ SUNY Cortland scored the final three goals of the game to escape with a 12-9 win over Springfield College in a second-round matchup in Cortland.

Massena's Neal Hopps rotated into the Red Dragons' midfield against Springfield, but didn't register a shot.
