Yott's mound performance sends Indian River to first loss
IHC TRIUMPHS: Junior throws complete-game six-hitter as Cavaliers field flawlessly to give Warriors initial Frontier League defeat

Junior right-hander Matt Yott held hot-hitting Indian River to six hits and only a first-inning run as Immaculate Heart Central dealt the Warriors their first Frontier League baseball loss of the season, 3-1, in an "A" Division game Wednesday at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.

Yott struck out three and walked two in his route-going effort for the Cavaliers (12-7 overall, 4-4 league), who did not make an error behind him.

Sophomore Patrick Caldwell singled in the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth for IHC, and eighth-grader Santino Alteri tripled home another run. Kyle Thomas finished 2-for-3 with a triple.

For Indian River (11-6, 7-1), Jarrod Mattingly was 3-for-3 with a double, while Jordan Hunneyman and Mike Bombard contributed doubles.

CARTHAGE 10, WATERTOWN 3

Greg Christian finished 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs as the Comets beat the host Cyclones and tied them for second place in the "A" Division.

Freshman Josh Amann, recently called up from the junior varsity, went 2-for-5 and drove in two runs for Carthage (6-9, 5-3), which lost its first seven games of the season. Jordan Soukup pitched the complete-game win.

Josh Cox hit a two-run homer for Watertown (9-6, 5-3), and Will VanHouten was 2-for-4.

SOUTH LEWIS 6, APW 5

Harry Campbell doubled in the tying and go-ahead runs during a five-run sixth inning as the host Falcons rallied to edge the Rebels in a crossover game at Turin.

Anthony Ripp, who finished 2-for-3, also singled in a run in the sixth for South Lewis (8-8, 8-5), as did winning pitcher Mark Kelley. The Falcons had five of their eight hits in that inning.

David Stanton and Justin Bristol each were 2-for-4 for Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (2-12, 1-11), while Shawn Britton drove in two runs.

THOUSAND ISLANDS 11,

COPENHAGEN 4

Corey Kendall finished 2-for-4 as the Vikings earned a crossover win at Copenhagen.

Casey Calhoun contributed a double for Thousand Islands (9-6, 8-5), while Mike Dano scored three runs.

Shane Berghorn and Blake LaBarge both went 2-for-4 for the Golden Knights (6-7, 6-6).

SACKETS HARBOR 15, ALEXANDRIA 4

Nick Thompson had four hits and drove in three runs to help the host Patriots wrap up the "D" Division championship.

Sackets Harbor (11-4, 10-2) recorded 16 hits, and scored in every inning except the second. Gage LeClair added three hits, and Nathan Kolb produced two hits and three RBIs for the Patriots.

Brandon Hollis led Alexandria (5-8, 4-7) with three hits, while Ben Cole hit an RBI double and Marcus Megan added a triple.

LYME 12, LAFARGEVILLE 6

Ryan Hyde had two hits and two RBIs as the Indians beat the Red Knights in a five-inning first game of a scheduled "D" Division doubleheader at Chaumont.

Zach Allen and Corey Walker each finished with two hits for Lyme (5-8, 5-7).

Taylor Parks was 3-for-3 with a home run for LaFargeville (4-9, 3-7).

LaFargeville led the second game 5-4 after the top of the fifth inning when it was called due to darkness.

HEUVELTON 11, HERMON-DEKALB 4

T.J. Jacobs connected for three singles and drove in one for the Bulldogs in a Northern Athletic Conference West Division game in DeKalb-Junction.

Brookin Decker, Scott Bouchey, Trevor Tyo and Jesse Hargrave each singled for Heuvelton (11-0, 10-0 division). Hargrave drove in the would-be winning run as part of a seven-run fourth inning for the Bulldogs.

Jeremy Warren belted a home run for the Demons(5-7, 5-5).

EDWARDS-KNOX 4, HARRISVILLE 0

Brandon Bressette got things started with a two-run single in the bottom of the first for the Cougars in a West Division game in Edwards.

Sean Sullivan struck out 13 batters in a three-hit win for Edwards-Knox (6-5, 4-4).

Coal Campbell had two of the three hits, and Carson Patnode added the other for Harrisville (5-5).
