Thompson boosts perfect Shamrocks
NAC LACROSSE: Player registers 9 points as 11-0 Salmon River beats St. Lawrence

FORT COVINGTON — Lyle Thompson racked up nine points on four goals and five assists to lead Salmon River to a 19-13 Northern Athletic Conference boys lacrosse win over St. Lawrence Central on Thursday.

Ty Thompson added six goals and an assist while Miles Thompson supplied two goals and three assists for Salmon River (11-0 overall).

Ryan Cole paced St. Lawrence (7-7, 6-6) with four goals and two assists. Connor McCuin made 12 saves for the Larries.

POTSDAM 10, MASSENA 6

Ryan Bercume scored four goals to lead the Sandstoners' come-from-behind league victory over the Red Raiders in Potsdam.

Corey Bercume added two goals, while Joe DiTullio made seven saves for Potsdam (10-3, 9-2).

David Henrie paced Massena with two goals. Taylor Elsner supplied one goal and two assists while Luke Purser recorded 16 saves for the Red Raiders (3-8, 3-6).

SKANEATELES 8, CANTON 6

The Golden Bears couldn't hang on to an early 2-1 lead and lost a nonleague game against Skaneateles at the Duffy Fairgrounds.

Sam Bradman scored three goals and assisted on another, while David Pynchon added two goals and one assist for Canton (9-5).

Patrick Sweeney made 19 saves for the Golden Bears.

WATERTOWN 10,

IMMACULATE HEART 9 (OT)

Pat Commeret scored unassisted in overtime as the Cyclones earned a Frontier League victory at Watertown High School.

Commeret, who finished with four goals, also scored with 16 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 9-9.

Wilson Mukrdechian made 12 saves, including a key one-on-one save in overtime, according to Watertown coach Tim Burr. Burr also credited the solid defensive effort by Dan Mendez and Andrew VanNostrand.

Brett McAuliffe added two goals for the Cyclones (13-3, 8-3).

Colin Caldwell totaled three goals and one assist, Tony Doldo added two goals, and goalie Andrew Hauk turned away 15 shots for the Cavaliers (7-7, 5-4).

CARTHAGE 20, INDIAN RIVER 7

Kyle Gaebel stopped seven shots and surpassed the 500-save mark for his career as the Comets cruised past the Warriors in a league matchup in Philadelphia.

Thomas Grimm supplied five goals and four assists for Carthage (15-1, 11-0), and Robert Grimm produced four goals and four assists. The brothers have each recorded more than 100 points this season.

Corey Brown buried a team-high four goals for Indian River (2-12, 1-9).

SOUTH JEFFERSON 14, LOWVILLE 10

Freshman Bryan Smith scored a game-best five points as the Spartans scored 11 times in the second half to capture a league win over the Red Raiders in Adams Center.

Smith finished with four goals and an assist for South Jefferson (7-8, 3-7). Jake Smith also scored four goals, and Mike Virga made 24 saves.

Matt Graveley registered three goals for Lowville (6-9, 3-6).

BOYS TENNIS

ALEXANDRIA 4, WATERTOWN 1

McKenzie Garlock and Shawn Martin both captured singles matches to help power the regular-season Frontier League champion Purple Ghosts to a league victory at Watertown High School.

Alexandria and Lowville share the league tournament title, which was contested on Saturday.

On Thursday, Garlock defeated Watertown's James Purcell 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 for a victory at first singles.

Martin captured second singles, while Ethan Thomson and Riley Thomson secured a victory at first doubles, and Ethan Dunham and Corey Walts won the second doubles match for Alexandria (10-2).

Spencer McCreary claimed the third singles match for the Cyclones (6-5).

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

SPARTANS EARN 2 VICTORIES

Than Harrington won the discus and shot put to help South Jefferson to Frontier League victories over South Lewis, 95-46, and Carthage, 95-46, in a tri-meet at Adams Center.

The Falcons defeated Carthage 84-57.
