Hollis plates winning run in 8th as Sandy Creek defeats South Jefferson

SANDY CREEK — Paul Hollis drilled a long single to right-center field in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring Logan McNitt, to give Sandy Creek an 8-7 victory over South Jefferson in a Frontier League baseball crossover game Thursday.

Sandy Creek (6-8 overall) banged out 15 hits, led by Koby Fowler who was 4-for-5.

The Spartans (6-9, 5-7), who scored three runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game, received three hits from Brandon Bodah.

BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 10

Mike Cobb went 3-for-4 with a triple as the Falcons scored 13 runs in the second inning to earn a crossover win in Belleville.

T.J. Mowers supplied two hits and four RBIs, while Harry Campbell added two hits, including a double, and three RBIs for South Lewis (9-8, 9-5).

Josh Kohl, Robert Woytowicz and Jacob Stevenson supplied two hits apiece for Belleville Henderson (0-13).

BEAVER RIVER 20, GENERAL BROWN 0

The host Beavers banged out 16 hits and scored 14 runs in the third inning to earn a five-inning crossover win at Beaver Falls.

Beaver River (14-2, 12-2), which has clinched the "C'' Division title, was led by Dustin Tooker with four hits, including a home run and triple, and four RBIs. Shane Scanlon contributed two hits, including a homer, and drove in three runs, Bryant Staie and Nick Spink each had two hits and two RBIs and winning pitcher Marcus Roggie added two hits.

Roggie and Staie combined on a one-hitter. Dillon Schorr had the lone hit for the Lions (4-12, 2-11), a double.
