TUESDAY, MAY 20, 2008

SACKETS HARBOR — Seaway Trail Discovery Center will host a talk on the success of efforts to restore wild turkey habitat across the U.S. at 6 p.m. May 29.

The presentation, part of the 2008 Birds of the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Series, will feature Bruce Bailey of the Oswego River Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. The federation has spent more than $258 million to conserve 13.1 million acres of habitat since 1973. The turkey population has grown from 1.3 million to 7 million over that time frame.

The center is at Ray and Main streets. The Seaway Trail runs 518 miles along the St. Lawrence River, Lake Ontario, Niagara River and Lake Erie.

The program will have a $5 admission. For more information or to reserve a JAKES Activity Book for youth, call 646-1000.
