Eight face drunken driving charges

Eight people are facing charges of driving while intoxicated and related offenses.

■ Barbara L. McCabe, 51, Henderson, was charged with felony DWI, failure to keep right, not wearing a seat belt, consuming an alcoholic beverage in vehicle and violating a restricted license as a result of her arrest by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies Friday evening on Lake Road in the town of Ellisburg, where she reportedly struck a utility pole.

She suffered a neck injury. She had DWI convictions last year and in October 1998.

■ Lindsey M. Hollenbeck, 24, Carthage, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies at 3:20 a.m. Saturday with aggravated DWI, speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana on Route 12E in the town of Brownville. Her test reading was 0.19 percent. State law specifies that 0.08 percent or higher BAC constitutes intoxication. A reading of 0.18 percent BAC or more constitutes aggravated DWI, which carries enhanced penalties.

■ Alicia M. Strader, 31, Adams, was charged by state police at 1:35 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 81 in the town of Pamelia with felony aggravated unlicensed operation, driving under the influence of drugs (said to be prescription medications) speeding at 79 mph, leaving scene of an accident, a seat belt infraction and making an unsafe lane change.

She forced vehicles off the pavement with her erratic driving, police said.

■ Charity L. Nortz, 25, of 6346 Williams Road, Lowville, was additionally charged by Lewis County sheriff's deputies with failure to keep right after she was involved in a one-vehicle rollover accident at 2:23 a.m. Saturday on East Martinsburg Road in the town of Martinsburg. No injuries were reported.

Ms. Nortz allegedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.12 percent.

■ Edward T. Loy, 45, of 16808 Calhoun Road, Clayton, was arrested by Alexandria Bay police at 12:20 a.m. Saturday on Holland Street in Alexandria Bay, where he was additionally cited with failure to signal a turn. His test result was 0.16 percent BAC, police said.

■ William M. Coggins, 45, Waddingham Road, Evans Mills, also faces charges of second-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Sheriff's deputies said he drove drunk Saturday night to the residence of his former wife, Kelly L. Wood-Steele, County Route 192, Redwood, struck her parked Jeep in the driveway and damaged a door upon entering the residence.

■ Erik C. Madore, 20, of 307 Washington St., Brownville, is also cited by sheriff's deputies with having inadequate exhaust, underage possession of an alcoholic beverage and unlawful possession of marijuana following an arrest at 2:50 a.m. Sunday on Route 12 in the town of Pamelia. He tested at 0.13 percent BAC, according to the sheriff's office.

■ Kevin J. O'Brien, 23, of 8269 Route 12, Lowville, was pulled over by Lewis County sheriff's deputies for crossing hazard markings at 1:50 a.m. Sunday on Route 12 in the town of Lowville, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies detected an odor of alcohol on his breath while speaking to him about the infractions.

He registered a 0.11 percent blood alcohol content, they said.
