Too focused on campaign silliness
FRIDAY, JULY 18, 2008

This issue hasn't been covered by the press appropriately. I for one am glad the New Yorker had the guts to run the now infamous cartoon. The people who get it, get it. The people who don't are the butt of the joke.

At least the media is more thoroughly reporting the idiocy of questioning such a dedicated civil servant's patriotism. If we had 100 senators as pragmatic as Sen. Barack Obama, we could have an efficient government regardless of their politics. His response to this latest manufactured crisis has been wholly appropriate. He will not be distracted. He has many more important things to do. At least we can purge this idiocy more thoroughly now.

I watched the national news as many in the press grudgingly admitted to asking Sen. Obama ridiculous questions about flag pins and the Quran and trying to pass it off as journalism.

There are still going to be wild accusations and rumors, but it will begin to sink in sooner or later. This man is a truly a dedicated leader, one who remembers whom he works for. The patience he has shown has been beyond anything an honest man should have to muster.

I hope this silly cartoon will be the last gust of this storm for our captain. Once the storm passes we can all look up and see the silver lining.
