AMSTERDAM — The Watertown Wizards nearly swept an NYCBL Eastern Division doubleheader against Amsterdam on Friday. The Wizards won the first game, 8-1, but dropped the night cap, 3-2.
Luis Castillo went six innings, allowed three hits and struck out five batters to pick up the victory for Watertown (12-20) in the opener. Greg Herbst finished with two hits and two RBIs. Khyle Dimino collected two hits, three runs and three stolen bases.
Wizards outfielder Brad Felder singled and drove in a run in game two. Dimino chipped in a double, and Thousand Islands product Jacob Wiley surrendered three runs on just five hits.
Mike Spina belted a solo home run for Amsterdam (22-11) in the second game. Ben Clowe provided two hits.
