Cooperative Extension lists places to buy local food

For the second year, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County has published a listing of places to buy local food.

The guide features 10 farmers' markets, 25 roadside stands and home businesses and four retail operations, with descriptions on what products are for sale and the growing methods used .

The guide was sponsored by the Jefferson County Agricultural Development Corp., Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County, Eat Well Play Hard, GardenShare and Eat Smart New York.

Copies of the "Local Food Guide" are available at several locations in Watertown, including: Cornell Cooperative Extension, 203 N. Hamilton St.; the Jefferson County Agricultural Development Corp. at 21170 Route 232; and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency office at 21168 Route 232. For more information on pick-up locations call the extension at 788-8450.
