Sackets Harbor fell 4-3 to New Hartford on Thursday night at DeLutis Field in Rome to see its season end in the American Legion Baseball District 5 playoffs.

Josh Cox was the hard-luck loser for Sackets Harbor (22-6), striking out 10. Cox's RBI single and an RBI double from A.J. Capone brought Sackets within a run in the bottom of the eighth, but Capone was stranded on second.

New Hartford then beat Smith Post of Rome 9-8 in 10 innings Friday night in the first game of the best-of-three championship series. Game two was postponed by rain on Saturday and will be played at 1 p.m. today. If Smith wins, a third game will follow to determine who represents the district in the New York State Tournament at Newburgh this week.
