Tyo tied for 16th after first day of NYSGA tourney

ONEONTA — Justin Tyo, of the Massena Country Club, finished his round with a 4-over-par 76, tying him for 16th in the first round of the New York State Golf Association's Junior and Boys Tournament being played at Oneonta Country Club.

Drew Laemmermann, representing the Watertown Golf Club, was tied for 30th with a score of 79, Matt Viskovich, also of Massena, carded an 81 and Shawn Thomas, of the Thousand Islands Country Club shot an 85.

In the boys division, Ben Stone of the Potsdam Town and Country Club fired a 2-over-par 74 on Tuesday to tie for third after the first round of qualifying.

Michael Chambers of Potsdam shot an 85, and Cody Compeau from Potsdam finished with an 88.
