SYRACUSE — Former Syracuse University defensive end Brandon Gilbeaux has officially transferred to the University of Delaware, according to a report Tuesday in The News Journal in Wilmington, Del.
Syracuse suspended Gilbeaux in June for academic reasons. The Washington D.C. native was one of five defensive players to start every game for the Orange in 2007. He recorded 49 tackles, including six for a loss, and one sack.
Gilbeaux is eligible to play for Delaware this season. The Blue Hens compete in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). They finished with an 11-4 record last season and were ranked second in the final coaches' poll.
