LOWVILLE — State police have charged five youths, ranging in age from 15 to 20, in connection with the use of a village man's stolen credit card.
The group is accused of running up charges totaling $326.64 in a spree June 29, using a card belonging to Michael Yancey, 5454 Trinity Ave., an investigator said.
Charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property are:
■ Brandon J. Myers, 20, Lowville, who was committed to Lewis County Jail under $1,000 bail.
■ Chad M. Bartlett, 16, Boonville, awaiting arraignment in Lowville Town Court.
■ Kyle L. Riesel, 19, Lyons Falls, awaiting arraignment in Lowville Town Court.
■ Francis L. Blanchard III, 16, Port Leyden, awaiting arraignment in Lowville Town Court.
■ A 15-year-old juvenile, who also is cited with second-degree forgery, faces action in Lewis County Family Court.
The spree occurred after one of them discovered Mr. Yancey's lost wallet, which contained the card, police said. They allegedly purchased merchandise worth $226.61 at Wal-Mart, made a $74.78 gasoline purchase at Stewart's Shop in the village, made another gas purchase for $7.12 in Barneveld and paid $18.13 for a meal in New Hartford, the investigator said. Village police and Oneida County authorities are considering additional charges in connection with the spree, the investigator said.
