PITCAIRN — State police jailed a Harrisville man on numerous charges Friday after he allegedly crashed his car and damaged property in a Route 3 parking lot in the town of Pitcairn.
William C. Deamer, 34, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while under the influence of drugs and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle. Other charges included possessing marijuana, seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance in a non-original container, backing unsafely and failure to stop at a stop sign.
Police said Mr. Deamer registered a 0.27 percent blood alcohol content, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent BAC under state law. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more.
He also was found to be under the influence of drugs and had 1.1 grams of marijuana, 14 oxycodone tablets and prescription drugs that were not in their proper container, state police said. He was arraigned in Pitcairn Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $2,000 bail or $4,000 bond.
Also charged with DWI:
■ Sharon A. McGivney, 56, of 2965 Stony Point Lane, Henderson, was charged with felony DWI, at 9:09 p.m. Saturday after she crashed her car into a ditch along Route 3 in the town of Henderson. She also was charged with refusal to take a breath test, unlawful possession of marijuana, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, moving from a lane unsafely, operating a motor vehicle without an inspection certificate and having inadequate mirrors.
A DWI charge becomes a felony when the driver has been convicted of DWI within the past 10 years.
Mrs. McGivney complained of head pain and a hand injury and was taken by Sackets Harbor Ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. She was arraigned later in Hounsfield Town Court and was sent to jail at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $500 bail or $1,000 bond.
■ Patrick E. Ruddy, 63, of 1343 County Route 44, Waddington, was charged by state police Saturday after a traffic stop on County Route 44 in the town of Waddington. Mr. Ruddy registered a 0.13 percent BAC, police said. He also was cited with driving on the shoulder. He is to answer the charges in Waddington Town Court.
■ Chad E. Brown, 32, Constable, was charged by state police Saturday after a traffic stop in the Franklin County town of Westville. He also was charged with failure to keep right, having an uninspected motor vehicle and failure to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of an address change. He is to answer the charges in Westville Town Court.
■ Daryl S. Cook, 19, of 10644 S. Riva Loop, Fort Drum, was charged by state police at 5:19 a.m. Sunday in the town of Orleans. His BAC was not listed. He is to answer the charge in Orleans Town Court.
