LOWVILLE — Snow Belt Housing Co., 7500 S. State St., is offering housing preservation grants for Lewis County residents who cannot afford to make necessary repairs to their single-family, owner-occupied homes.

The program will provide 17 percent of the cost of repairs, up to $4,722, to help eliminate hazardous conditions in homes such as structural problems, plumbing problems, defective or inoperable furnaces, leaking roofs or faulty electrical wiring.

The repair work must be performed by contractors approved by Snow Belt Housing Co., with company staff inspecting the work to make sure of satisfactory completion.

Funding is limited and based on income eligibility. Call the Snow Belt Housing Co. at 376-2639 for more information.
