Man involved in car accident among drivers facing charges

Joseph A. Truhlik, 44, of 37891 Sylvester Road, Clayton, was charged Monday morning with driving under the influence of drugs after state police said he drove off Black Creek Road about 8:30 a.m. in the town of Clayton.

His vehicle struck a utility pole and then entered a ditch and water hole, police said.

He also is charged with refusal to submit to an alcohol screening test and crossing hazard markings. Police said he was under the influence of prescription medication when he had the accident.

Charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

■ George S. Thompson, 24, Fort Drum, was cited by Carthage police at 2:20 a.m. Saturday on State Street, and faces additional charges of third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and using a cell phone while driving. Police said he had a breath test result of 0.09 percent. State law establishes 0.08 percent BAC as the threshold for intoxication.

■ Ryan A. Cook, 23, Fremont, Mich., also was charged Aug. 9 with having no license and failure to keep right after being stopped on Route 11 in the town of Gouverneur, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said. He registered a 0.14 percent blood alcohol content, police said.

■ Steven D. Nunez, 21, Fort Drum, was charged by Carthage police at 5:15 a.m. Saturday on State Street. Charges of failure to signal a turn and crossing hazard markings also were filed. He tested at 0.10 percent BAC, police said.
