SYRACUSE — Defenseman John Lade and midfielder Scott Kahoe have transferred to Syracuse to play men's lacrosse in 2009, according to the university and Inside Lacrosse Magazine.
Lade was one of the top long poles at Villanova in his freshman campaign. He led the Wildcats with 53 ground balls. The Randolph, N.J., native was a first team All-Colonial Athletic Association pick. Lade also competed on the United States under-19 men's lacrosse team this summer, which featured SU midfielders Josh Amidon and Joel White.
Inside Lacrosse reported Tuesday that Kahoe will spend his fifth year of eligibility with the Orange. The 6-foot-5 inch, 220-pound middie played sparingly for Georgetown last season. He tallied three goals and two assists in two starts. Kahoe gained an extra year after he redshirted the 2007 season following shoulder surgery.
Syracuse, which won its 10th national title this past spring, has dealt with two other defections in the offseason. Sophomore attacker Jack Harmatuk transferred to Le Moyne, and senior goalie Peter Coluccini enrolled at Ohio State. Along with the Lade and Kahoe, the Orange have 16 incoming freshman recruits.
