CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Former Carthage standout Casey Powell scored the game-winning goal 45 seconds into overtime to give Rochester its first Major League Lacrosse postseason victory, a 16-15 decision Saturday over two-time defending champion Philadelphia.
The goal set up a championship meeting between two of the Powell brothers. Powell's brother Ryan plays for Denver, which defeated Los Angeles 13-12 on Saturday.
Ryan Powell supplied three goals and an assist in Denver's victory.
Casey Powell finished with two goals.
Philadelphia had won six straight playoff games and lost none prior to Saturday.
Joe Walters led Rochester with four goals and three assists. Colin Doyle added two goals and two assists.
Rochester outshot Philadelphia 45-31.
