OGDENSBURG — Former Diocese of Ogdensburg Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito, who heads the Diocese of Palm Beach, Fla., will be the guest homilist Sept. 14 at a special service to celebrate St. Paul at St. Mary's Cathedral.

Nearly 1,000 Roman Catholics from throughout the eight-county diocese are expected to attend. Ogdensburg Bishop Robert J. Cunningham will preside over the service, diocesan officials said Friday. The service starts at 4 p.m. at the cathedral.

Pope Benedict XVI recently announced a special jubilee year dedicated to St. Paul, from June 28, 2008, to June 29, 2009, to celebrate the 2,000th anniversary of his birth.
