ALEXANDRIA BAY— River Hospital's Nutrition Services will present "Update 2008: Standards in Diabetes Medical Care" as an outreach service designed for medical professionals and care givers.

Nicole Garnsey, registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, will lead the 6 p.m. Thursday presentation in River Hospital's Adult Day Health Care Room, 4 Fuller St.

She will discuss topics such as the latest American Diabetes Association recommendations in screening for diabetes, monitoring and achieving glycemic goals, clinical preventative services and counseling patients.

Light beverages and food will be given out during the one-hour, free presentation.
