Cornell, SU renew hoop rivalry Dec. 3 in Dome

SYRACUSE — The Syracuse and Cornell men's basketball teams are scheduled to compete for the 116th time Dec. 3 in the Carrier Dome. It marks the second straight season and the sixth time in the last eight years the two programs are meeting.

Cornell is coming off one of the most successful campaigns in school history. The Big Red were 22-6 overall and captured the Ivy League title with a 14-0 league mark. Cornell earned an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament where the Big Red lost to Stanford. Syracuse handed Cornell one of its six losses, an 80-64 defeat.

Cornell joins Oakland (Nov. 21), Virginia (Nov. 28) and Colgate (Dec. 1) on SU's announced nonconference slate.

■ Tickets for an NBA preseason game between Carmelo Anthony's Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Suns, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 17 in the Carrier Dome, are also on sale.
