This letter is for the purpose of alerting the good citizens of Rutland to the attitude toward you, the taxpayer, of the former supervisor in 2007.
I know that in our busy lives it is hard to find the time to attend the town board meetings which are held the second Thursday of each month. I have attended several of them and what I personally have witnessed shocks me. I did not attend the most recent meeting and I regret that.
Do you know that all the people from Felts Mills are liars? I did not know that, but the former supervisor of Rutland loudly stated this during the last meeting. This statement was witnessed by many people attending that meeting. I was also told that it was taped on a recorder.
Do you know that a certain three members of the board are harassing the highway superintendent whom the voters elected? This behavior is putting the taxpayers of Rutland at risk. Do you know that before the newly elected board members took over the business of the town, the displaced superintendent of highways failed to restock salt and other supplies needed to take care of the roads? Then the aforementioned three proceeded to claim that the lack of needed materials was due to the wanton wastefulness of the newly elected highway superintendent.
Due to Claude Phelps' concern over the safety of the highways, he fought them all winter to do the job correctly. I was present at these meetings and heard this myself. Now, I live in Felts Mills and do not consider myself a liar. I also do not believe that my neighbors are liars. I intend to make sure I attend the next meeting to publicly inform them of this.
If there is any way the citizens of Felts Mills could join me at this next meeting to object to this total disrespect by the former supervisor, I would be pleased. To all the citizens of Rutland who were not included in this group, I would like to ask you to join us. We are all neighbors and taxpayers of this town.
As far as I am concerned, if you disrespect any one of us, you disrespect us all. Remember, they work for us.
