OGDENSBURG — The Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority has identified an alternate route to access the Port of Ogdensburg.

The OBPA has been looking for years to find another route to the port for trucks. Paterson Street is considered the main access road to the port.

The public authority wants to acquire property from the city of Ogdensburg for the access road, along with support for the project. The property includes a portion on Barre Street on the north side of Ford Street. No cost estimate was available for the access road.

In June, the OBPA's board of directors approved buying a 0.25-acre property owned by John W. Watson for $55,555. The property, at 1900 Ford St., is next to Barre Street.

Trucks could utilize the access road from Route 37 using Ford Street extension. The City Council will discuss the issue at its meeting Monday night.
