Waterbury's late goal lifts Watertown over South Jefferson

Chris Waterbury scored on a pass from Eric Gefell with just under a minute left in regulation to give host Watertown a 2-1 nonleague boys soccer win over visiting South Jefferson on Thursday.

Gefell also scored the first goal for the Cyclones (3-0) in the opening half. Tim Madden made 12 saves in goal.

Chris Besaw scored for the Spartans (1-1-1) in the first half.

CARTHAGE 2, LOWVILLE 1

Matt Gallagher took a through pass from Tyler Abbass in the 71st minute, and scored the game-winner to give the host Comets a nonleague triumph.

Abbass also provided the other goal for Carthage (1-1).

Kyle Curry scored for the Red Raiders (2-1).

Goalies Zach Haenlin of Lowville and Matt Hayden of Carthage matched each other's efforts with five saves each.

IHC 1, GENERAL BROWN 0

Peter Purcell scored on a header in the 48th minute, and the Cavaliers held on to win a nonleague game at Immaculate Heart Central.

Andrew Guyette provided the assist on a corner kick, while Brian Magovney made eight saves en route to a shutout for IHC (1-0).

Jon Hall stopped five shots for the Lions (2-2).

COPENHAGEN 2, THOUSAND ISLANDS 1

Ben Freeman's goal and assist in the final six minutes fueled a late rally as Copenhagen outlasted visiting Thousand Islands in a Frontier League crossover game.

David Hovendon netted the game-winner in the 74th minute, and Freeman scored unassisted four minutes later to seal it for the Golden Knights (1-1 overall, 1-0 league).

Nathan Lashomb gave the Vikings (0-2, 0-1) the early lead on a 13th-minute goal.

LYME 7, BEAVER RIVER 0

Sophomore goalie Justin Henderson recorded a shutout in his first varsity start as the Indians blanked the Beavers in a crossover game at Chaumont.

Henderson made just two saves for Lyme (3-0, 1-0). Josh Lothrop scored two goals and assisted on two for Lyme. Cory Walker scored twice, Zach Piche recorded one goal and one assist, and Jordan Booth and Jordan Jenkins each scored a goal.

LAFARGEVILLE 10, SANDY CREEK 0

Dan Mills and Taylor Parks each supplied two goals as the Red Knights rolled to a crossover victory at LaFargeville.

LaFargeville (3-0, 1-0) dented the net six times in the first half to take control. Conner Taylor and Wayne Aldrich each tacked on a goal and an assist, while Garett Robbins, Casey Jones, Corey McKee and Brandon Davis also scored for LaFargeville.

BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 9,

SOUTH LEWIS 1

David Kalwarovski notched four goals, three in the game's opening four minutes, and added one assist to lead the host Panthers during a crossover game at Belleville.

Jared Arnold scored twice, Eli Anderson notched two assists for Belleville Henderson (2-1, 1-0), and Chris Leen, Matt Elmer and Tim Zeller also had goals.

Chris Sheets scored for the Falcons (0-1).

SACKETS HARBOR 5, ALEXANDRIA 1

The Patriots scored four second-half goals to pull away during a "D" Division game at Sackets Harbor.

Gabe Altieri opened the scoring in the 34th minute, while Jordan Williams, Zach Augliano and Jordan Montrois each produced a goal in the first 10 minutes of the second half for Sackets Harbor (2-1, 1-0).

Travis Martin helped Alexandria (0-1) avoid the shutout by converting a late penalty kick. Nick Santamarina scored on a penalty kick for the Patriots.

CLIFTON-FINE 1, HAMMOND 0

Tom McCormick scored in the 60th minute to lift Clifton-Fine to a win over Hammond in a Northern Athletic Conference West Division game at Star Lake.

HARRISVILLE 2, HEUVELTON 0

Coal Campbell scored both Harrisville goals in first half to give the Pirates a West Division win in Heuvelton.

Campbell scored first in the eighth minute and then on a penalty kick in the 23rd. Tom Coloney made six saves for Harrisville (3-1, 2-0).

David Putman made 10 saves for Heuvelton (0-2).

CLIFTON-FINE 1, HAMMOND 0

Tom McCormick scored in the 60th minute to lift Clifton-Fine to a win over Hammond in a Northern Athletic Conference West Division game at Star Lake.

McCormick's goal was unassisted on a breakaway. Cole Tristam earned the shutout, stopping 16 shots for Clifton-Fine (1-3, 1-1 division).

Taylor Kenyon had seven saves for Hammond (0-3, 0-1).

EDWARDS-KNOX 4, LISBON 1

The Cougars won their first game of the season with a West Division triumph over the Golden Knights in Lisbon.

John Davison scored twice for Edwards-Knox, each coming in the second half. David Bullock and Dan Corbine added a goal apiece, and Corbine supplied one assist for the Cougars (1-3, 1-1).

Reese Armstrong netted the goal for Lisbon (2-2, 1-1).

HARRISVILLE 2, HEUVELTON 0

Tom Ward earned the shutout with 10 saves for Massena (2-2, 2-0).

Trent Durocher stopped 13 shots for Canton (1-2, 0-1).

POTSDAM 7, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 0

The Sandstoners erupted for five goals in the second half in an easy Central Division win over Norwood-Norfolk in Potsdam.

Jordan LaPointe scored twice in the first half, both in the opening 10 minutes. Ryan Bercume added two more scores in the second half. TJ Rimmer and Dan Moulten also scored for Potsdam (4-0, 2-0).

Pat Durant made 10 saves for Norwood-Norfolk (1-3, 2-0).

PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 5,

ST. REGIS FALLS 0

The Panthers dominated the Saints in an East Division game in St. Regis Falls.

Cory Meashaw scored twice, including the game-winning first goal for Parishville-Hopkinton (1-1-1, 1-0). Titus Hammill, Mark Norman and Ryan Gallagher all scored once for the Panthers.

Jake Wheeler stopped 14 shots for St. Regis Falls (0-1).
