SKANEATELES — South Jefferson took advantage of five Skaneateles turnovers — three interceptions, two fumbles — to open the season with a 21-14 Section 3 Class B interdivision football victory on Friday.

Jory Tanner and Ryan Jackson scored on 1-yard runs after the Spartans recovered fumbles. Kevin Deon added an 85-yard kickoff return for South Jefferson, which managed just 123 total yards.

Jackson finished with 73 yards rushing for South Jefferson, which saw Skaneateles end the game with an incomplete pass in the Spartans' end zone.
