CANTON — Michelle Zimmerman scored off a pass from Lisa Batchelor at 7 minutes, 16 seconds of the third period to give the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team a 5-4 win over McGill University in an exhibition game at Appleton Arena Friday night.
The Saints built a 4-1 lead midway through the third period, but McGill scored three straight goals to tie the game 4-4. Zimmerman's game-winner came just 41 seconds after Marie-Andree Leclerc-Auger scored to tie the game at 6:35.
Carson Duggan scored two goals, and Marianna Locke and Kyrsten Venasse also scored for the Saints.
MEN'S HOCKEY
SUNY CANTON 7, SCRANTON 2
Pat Otwell, Garrett Rosenbaum and Dan Cibelli each supplied one goal and one assist to lead the Kangaroos to a season-opening road win over the University of Scranton club team. Kevin Moro, Eric Randall, Darren Cap and Joel Cardinal-Schultz also scored for SUNY Canton.

SUNY POTSDAM 1, SUNY OSWEGO 1
Laura Ambron scored in the 75th minute to give SUNY Oswego (5-3-1 overall, 1-1-1 conference) a tie with the Bears in a SUNYAC game in Potsdam. Dedra Palmer scored off a pass from Lacey Malbeuf in the 21st minute for the Bears (7-2-2, 0-2-1).
SUNY Potsdam won a shootout 3-2 after the game, a tiebreaker that will only be used if a tiebreaker is needed to determine playoff positions.

CLARKSON DROPS PAIR
The Golden Knights (10-11) opened play at the Stevens Institute Invitational with a 25-16, 20-2,5, 25-18, 25-19 loss to CCNY and then fell 25-20, 25-11, 27-25 to the host school in Hoboken, N.J.
Jessica Brody had 12 kills for Clarkson against CCNY, and Jenna Stock led the Golden Knights with 15 assists against Stevens.

The Saints (15-5) picked up a sweep in a nonconference game at Elmira (10-7) winning 25-21, 25-18, 25-19.
