LOWVILLE — A Croghan man charged with drug possession and improper care of children, among other things, was sentenced Friday in Lewis County Court to one year in county jail.
Randy R. Grimmer Jr.,26, whose address is now listed as Lewis County jail, also was sentenced to a six-month driver's license suspension and $320 in court fees on charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child, to which he pleaded guilty Aug. 15.
Other charges satisfied by the plea deal were criminally possessing a hypodermic needle, unlawful possession of marijuana and second-degree promoting prison contraband.
Mr. Grimmer was charged Oct. 31 with possessing cocaine and a hypodermic needle in the village of Lowville. He also was charged Dec. 12 with being under the influence of prescription medications and other drugs in the presence of two children and providing them with filthy living conditions in the village of Croghan.
Also in Lewis County Court on Friday:
Luanthony D. Green,25, of 9220 General Brown Loop, Apt. 2, Fort Drum, was arraigned on charges of first-degree rape, third-degree assault, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child and pleaded guilty to the latter two charges. He was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge, and a five-year order of protection was issued on the victim's behalf.
Green was charged with raping, punching and kicking a woman July 18 in the town of Diana in the presence of a child.
Joshua S. Alexander,24, of 9893 Route 12, Copenhagen, pleaded guilty to petit larceny, also satisfying a charge of third-degree burglary. He was sentenced to three years' probation and $210 in court fees. Mr. Alexander was charged May 23 with breaking into a building owned by Fred Snyder on Kelsey Road in the town of Harrisburg.
Jamie L. Genito,29, of 8532 Erie Canal Road, Lowville, pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, also satisfying a charge of failure to keep right. Sentencing was set for Dec. 12. Ms. Genito was charged June 17 after she was involved in an accident on Pine Grove Road in the town of Watson.
Emily T. Crouch,25, Northfield, Conn., was arraigned on two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and single counts of third- and fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, whileRonald G. Davis,27, Schenectady, was arraigned on charges of third-, fifth- and seventh-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Ms. Crouch and Mr. Davis both pleaded guilty to fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, satisfying the other charges.
Sentencing for both was set for Dec. 19.
Ms. Crouch was charged with selling cocaine and possessing other controlled substances, including oxycodone, on Sept. 1 at the moe.down music festival in Turin, while Mr. Davis was charged with selling LSD and ecstasy Aug. 29 at the festival.
Warren L. Smith,21, Sprakers, also was arraigned on a charge of fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and pleaded innocent. His case was adjourned to Dec. 19. He was charged with selling hallucinogenic mushrooms Aug. 29 at moe.down.
Jordan S. Powell,21, of 25101 Perch Lake Road, Watertown, was arraigned on charges of second-degree forgery and petit larceny and pleaded innocent.
His case was adjourned to Oct. 24. Mr. Powell was charged with forging the signature of Floyd E. Zehr on a $500 check May 29 in the town of Croghan.
Nancy M. Chapman,46, of 7500 S. State St., Lowville, was arraigned on a charge of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing and pleaded innocent. Her case was adjourned to Dec. 19. She was charged with cashing a Social Security check Jan. 29 in Lowville while knowing it contained false information.
Royal D. Nuffer,48, of 10101 Third Road, Castorland, had a trial date set for Dec. 8 in his case of first- and second-degree criminal contempt. Mr. Nuffer was charged with being found May 13 at the town of Croghan home of Amy C. Nuffer and with making several calls to her cell phone between May 13 and June 6, all in violation of an order of protection issued in Lewis County Family Court.
James E. Flanagan,37, Fort Hood, Texas, had his case of two counts apiece of first-degree rape and first-degree criminal sexual act and a single count of endangering the welfare of a child adjourned to Oct. 24, with a trial date set for Dec. 8.
He was charged with having sexual intercourse with a girl less than 11 years of age between Nov. 1 and Dec. 6, 2004, in the town of Greig.
Ellen M. Hooper,37, Petersburg, Va., had her case, including two counts apiece of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and endangering the welfare of a child, adjourned to Oct. 24, with a trial date set for Nov. 17. Ms. Hooper was charged with having deviant sexual contact with two boys between July 2001 and January 2002 in the town of Diana.
