As George W. Bush nears the end of his presidency, he is facing the lowest approval ratings of his eight years in office. A Gallup Poll taken last weekend found that 25 percent of Americans approve of the job he is doing while 70 percent disapprove. His rating has dropped eight percentage points in a month.

Gallup began measuring presidential job approval ratings in 1938. Since then, two presidents have scored lower: Harry Truman endured 22 percent ratings in 1952 and Richard Nixon 24 percent in 1974.
