A Dexter man died Friday afternoon after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing it on Baldwin Road in the town of Brownville.

Timothy A. Thompson, 38, was operating a 2003 Harley-Davidson about 3:50 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

The motorcycle went off the right shoulder of the road and overturned, ejecting Mr. Thompson, who was not wearing a helmet, police said. He was taken to Samaritan Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

The Dexter Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Brownville Fire Department, Glen Park first responders, Guilfoyle Ambulance Service and state police.
