THREE MILE BAY — The Rev. Douglas J. King will start as pastor of First Baptist Church with his first service today.

The Rev. Mr. King graduated in May 2006 from Pensacola Theological Seminary. In January 2007, he was ordained at First Baptist Church in Eden, where he also was intern-pastor before coming to Three Mile Bay.

After graduation from high school in 1997, the Rev. Mr. King was in an accident that left him paraplegic and in a wheelchair.

"My disability is not a disability in God's eyes, but a tool for further ministry for Him," Mr. King wrote in his introductory letter to the church.

He has been married to Heidi Joss since 2007.
