The Hounsfield Town Council hired Marlene A. Norfolk to reassess commercial property in the town at the council's meeting Wednesday night. Assessor Jean C. Rogers said the county does not assist with commercial property, but Mrs. Norfolk, former Watertown city assessor, has experience in commercial assessments.

The revaluation will first affect property owners' tax bills in September 2009. Assessments are expected to double, but the tax rates should drop.
