STORRS, Conn. — Karell Emard and Tara Akstull scored goals in the first 2 minutes, 30 seconds of the third period to give the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team a 4-4 tie with the University of Connecticut in a nonconference game Saturday.

SLU (1-0-1 overall) had built a 2-1 lead in the first period off goals from Lisa Batchelor and Michelle Zimmerman. But the Huskies (3-1-1) scored three straight goals to build a 4-2 lead heading into the final period.

Dominique Thibault opened the scoring for Connecticut in the first period and scored the middle of the Huskies' three straight goals. Monique Weber and Michelle Binning also scored for the Huskies.

MEN'S SOCCER

RENSSELAER 2, CLARKSON 0

The Red Hawks scored both their goals in the second half to edge the Golden Knights in a Liberty League game in Troy.

Jabel Prom and Bryce Hutchinson each scored unassisted for Rensselaer (9-2-1, 4-0) in the 56th and 71st minute, respectively.

Mike St. Croix had five saves for Clarkson (5-7-1, 0-5).

ST. LAWRENCE 1, VASSAR 0

Kiel Dwyer scored on an assist from Paul LaMarca in the 70th minute for the eventual game-winner in a Liberty League win for the Saints in Poughkeepsie.

Emilio Coletta stopped three shots for St. Lawrence (8-5, 3-2).

Jake London made nine saves for Vassar (6-5, 1-3).

SUNY NEW PALTZ 1, SUNY POTSDAM 0

Evan Martel broke a scoreless tie in the 81st minute to give SUNY New Paltz a conference win over the Bears in Potsdam.

Patrick Carlucci need four saves for the shutout for New Paltz (5-7-2).

DJ Martin and Evan Smith combined for five saves for SUNY Potsdam (4-9-2).

SUNY CANTON 3,

VERMONT TECHNICAL 0

Repton Abrahams scored one goal with one assist to lead the Kangaroos (6-4-2, 6-1-1) past Vermont Technical College in a Sunrise Conference game in Randolph Center, Vt.

Bismark Ansah and Prince Sabatto also scored for SUNY Canton, and Eamon Case made three saves for the shutout.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

RENSSELAER 2, CLARKSON 1

The Red Hawks took a two-goal lead before the Golden Knights answered in a Liberty League game in Potsdam.

Briana Bet scored first in the seventh minute followed by Sarah Hinz in the 49th for Rensselaer (5-7, 1-4).

Jill Collins scored on an assist from Deana Huntley for Clarkson's only goal. Caitlin Turner and Cait Spaeth combined for nine saves for the Golden Knights (3-9-2, 0-5).

ST. LAWRENCE 1, VASSAR 0

Megan Howard notched the game-winner in the 60th minute in a Liberty League game with Vassar in Canton.

Lauren Sischo assisted on the goal, and Abby van Geldern made three saves for St. Lawrence (10-1-2, 3-1-1).

Anne Hutchinson had two saves for Vassar (8-4, 3-2).

SUNY NEW PALTZ 5, SUNY POTSDAM 0

Kelly Gorton scored once and assisted on two other goals to lead the Hawks to a SUNYAC triumph over the Bears in New Paltz.

Jennifer Anselmi scored the game-winner off an assist from Elana Jaroff for SUNY New Paltz (7-6-1, 3-3-1).

Sarah Casey made four saves, allowing all five goals for SUNY Potsdam (7-5-1, 0-5-1).

SUNY CANTON 3,

VERMONT TECHNICAL 0

Cierra Wells picked up two goals for the Kangaroos (8-1-1, 7-0-1) in a win over Vermont Technical in a Sunrise Conference game at Randolph Center, Vt.

Justine Monahan also scored for SUNY Canton and Aubrey Parrish made three saves for her fifth shutout of the season.

FIELD HOCKEY

ST. LAWRENCE 1, RENSSELAER 0

Jennifer Stetson scored 12 minutes into the first half and the Saints hung on to defeat Rensselaer in a Liberty League game in Canton.

Emilie Lannaman made four saves to earn the shutout for St. Lawrence (7-4, 4-1).

Briana Earle stopped nine shots for RPI (8-4, 3-2).

VOLLEYBALL

POTSDAM SPLITS AT UNION TOURNEY

The Bears split a pair of games during day two of the Union tournament. SUNY Potsdam defeated Hartwick 25-22, 25-14, 25-23 in its first match.

The Bears (15-11) then lost to host Union 20-25, 25-14, 27-25, 25-13. Potsdam finished the tournament with a 1-3 record.

CLARKSON WINS THREE

Jessica Agnew had 14 kills as Clarkson (14-13) opened play at the Keuka College Quadrangular event with a 25-15, 22-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-10 win over D'Youville College.

The Golden Knights followed with a 19-25, 25-16, 19-25, 25-16, 15-8 win over Keuka and a 26-24, 25-16, 25-19 sweep of Hamilton.

SAINTS SWEEP

Jessica Lucky had 24 kills and Nyasha Miller added 23 to lead SLU (18-16) to a 23-24, 25-23, 25-21, 25-23 win over St. John Fisher in the first of two games in Rochester.

The Saints also picked up a 22-25, 25-18, 27-25, 25-16 win over Pitt-Bradford.

"MEN'S HOCKEY

SUNY CANTON 4, RIT CLUB 1

Andrew Royce, Darren Camp, Joel Cardinal-Schultz and Kevin O'Connell scored goals to lead the Kangaroos (4-0) past the RIT Club team in an American College Hockey Association game in Rochester.

The Kangaroos picked up an 8-0 win over the University of Rochester on Friday night.
