AMHERST, Mass. — Jake Duker scored in the 68th minute to give Amherst College a 1-0 victory over St. Lawrence University in a second-round game of the NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament Sunday.

Duker's goal was set up when Jae Heo headed a ball, knocking it down by Duker, who sent a shot past SLU goalie Emilio Coletta.

The first half of the game featured the defenses of both squads as Amherst (13-3-3) held just a 6-4 shots edge and only a 3-2 edge in shots on goal.

Dan Martin had the best scoring chance for SLU (13-7-1) off a long shot in the 30th minute, but Amherst goalie Lennard Kovacs made a diving save to his left, then saved a second chance on the ensuing corner kick.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

CLARKSON 69, LASELL 61

Michelle Reddinger scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Golden Knights (1-1) to a win over Lasell College in the consolation game of the Wheaton (Mass.) Tournament.

Carey Turner scored 14 points and Lauren Pluchino added 13 for Clarkson. Shauna Kelly scored 20 and Tricia Culver added 17 to lead Lasell (0-2).

SAINTS OFF TO NCAAS

Both the St. Lawrence University men's and women's teams have advanced to the NCAA championships after their performances Saturday in the regionals.

The men's team received an at-large bid after taking fourth overall Saturday to be one of 32 teams selected for the Division III race set for Saturday at Hanover College in Hanover, Ind.

The women also landed in the NCAA meet with their third-place showing in regionals. The women also will compete Saturday in Hanover, Ind.
