SANDY CREEK — Mike Elkin scored a layup on a feed from Koby Fowler with 8 seconds remaining, and the Sandy Creek boys basketball team held on to secure a 55-53 victory over Lyme in a first-round game of the Sandy Creek tournament.
The Indians, who tied the score with 13 seconds left, got one shot off before time expired, but missed.
The game counted as a Frontier League crossover matchup.
Sandy Creek will play South Jefferson at 6:15 p.m. today in the championship game.
Shane Conzone helped lead the Comets (2-0) with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Taylor Ouderkirk supplied 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Elkin finished with 10 points.
Josh Lothrop scored 17 points, and Eric McDermott provided 12 points and 14 rebounds for Lyme (1-1).
SOUTH JEFFERSON 65, PULASKI 51
Eric Pond poured in 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Spartans during a first-round game in the Sandy Creek tournament.
A.J. Chartrand and Akeebu Lettsome contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively, for South Jefferson (1-0).
CANTON 49, WATERVLIET 41
The Golden Bears defeated host Watervliet in the Watervliet Tip-Off Tournament to advance to the championship today.
Mike Murray scored 15 points to lead all scorers for Canton (1-0). Tyler Thomas added 12 points for the Golden Bears.
MALONE 68, CHATEAUGAY 58
The Huskies hit nine 3-point goals, including four from Ryan Lamica, in the opening round of the Bobcat Shootout.
Lamica finished with 18 points to lead Malone (1-0). Brandon Aanderud supplied 14 points, and Casey Warner added 13 points for the Huskies.
Drew Boyea scored 28 points for Chateaugay (0-1).
NOTTINGHAM 56, MASSENA 52
Denzel Crouch and Devaun Kinsey combined for 30 points to lead the Bulldogs to a in over the Red Raiders in a tight season opener at the VVS Tournament in Vernon.
Nottingham plays the winner of the game between Vernon-Verona-Sherrill and Cardinal O'Hara in the championship, and Massena will face the loser in the consolation game today. Crouch scored 16 points, and Kinsey netted 14 points for the Bulldogs.
Matt Perry paced Massena (0-1) with 20 points. Cody Clary added 11 points for the Red Raiders.

MORRISTOWN 49, LAFARGEVILLE 36
Liz Whalen netted 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Green Rockets past LaFargeville in the first round of the Morristown tournament.
Morristown (2-0) plays St. Regis Falls in the championship today. Macy VanArnam added nine rebounds to go along with six points for the Green Rockets.
Emily Pitts scored 11 points to lead LaFargeville.
ST. REGIS FALLS 42, GOUVERNEUR 40
Krista Lucas scored 27 points to propel the Saints (1-0) to a first-round win over the Wildcats in the Morristown Tournament.
Lindsey Turner scored 13 points to lead Gouverneur (0-1), which will play in the consolation game against LaFargeville.

Kim Dragoon scored 13 points for the Cougars in the Section 10/7 Challenge tournament in Plattsburgh.
Johni Rae Coryea added 12 points for Northeastern Clinton, which will face Massena in the championship today.
Ashley Marshall led all scorers with 15 points, and Kelsey Johnson had 13 points for Malone (0-1).

The Red Raiders got 17 points from Caitlin Miller in a win over the Hornets in the first round of the Section 10/7 Challenge in Plattsburgh.
