Watertown man faces
assault, mischief charges
City police charged Ricky G. Holt Jr., 28, of 820 Leon Ave., with third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief Thursday.
He is accused of punching Michelle Gagniere, Central Street, in the head repeatedly, causing a cut. Mr. Holt is also accused of trying to close a car door on Ms. Gagniere, causing a dent in the roof. Deputies said he also damaged the car's door jamb during the incident.
Mr. Holt was held on $250 police bail and is to answer the charges in City Court.
Deputies charge man
with lying about car theft
Jefferson County sheriff's deputies charged Charles J. Leffler, 28, of 17481 U.S. Route 11, with second-degree obstruction of governmental administration and third-degree false reporting an incident Wednesday.
He is accused of lying to police about his car being stolen following an accident Nov. 22 on State Route 232. Deputies said Mr. Leffler also refused to divulge who was a passenger in the vehicle during the accident.
He is to answer the charges in Watertown Town Court.
Fort Drum teen allegedly
stole, used debit card
FORT DRUM — Jefferson County sheriff's deputies charged Ciara L. Alford, 17, of 9948B Saratoga Road, with petit larceny Nov. 20.
She is accused of using the debit card of Lawrence M. Brown, same address, to take $558.17 between Aug. 1 and Sept. 15 without his knowledge or consent.
Miss Alford is to answer the charge in LeRay Town Court.
City woman is accused
of not paying for cab ride
RUTLAND — Jefferson County sheriff's deputies charged Kim M. Cornell, 43, of 194 Cedar St., Watertown, with theft of services Monday.
She is accused of refusing to pay Mary D. Council, a driver for 3D Taxi, for a ride from Watertown to Black River.
Ms. Cornell is to answer the charge in Rutland Town Court.
Theresa man is accused
of nearly causing crashes
ANTWERP — Jefferson County sheriff's deputies charged Harry L. "Skip" Prue Sr., 63, of 413181 New Connecticut Road, Theresa, with second-degree criminal contempt and second-degree reckless endangerment Nov. 20.
Mr. Prue is accused of nearly causing a series of vehicle accidents Nov. 19 by driving erratically around a car carrying his ex-wife, Karen E. while both were traveling on County Route 22.
Mr. Prue is also accused, in a separate Nov. 19 incident, of sitting in his vehicle in front of his wife Norma's house. Deputies said Mrs. Prue holds an order of protection against her husband that requires him to stay away from her.
Mr. Prue is to answer both charges in Antwerp Town Court.
Teens charged for graffiti
facing additional counts
BLACK RIVER — Two teenagers already facing 11 charges for an alleged graffiti spree through downtown Sept. 28 were each hit with three additional charges by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies Saturday.
Dustin R. Underwood, 18, of 22320 Boyd Road, Carthage and Shaun P. O'Connell, 18, of 296584 Burnup Road, Black River now face charges of unlawful possession of marijuana, petit larceny and unlawful possession of an alcoholic beverage. The original charges were four counts of felony criminal mischief, six counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief and a single count of making graffiti.
The pair are accused of having drugs and alcohol during their Sept. 28 spree and stealing plastic sign letters, valued at $120, from the village of Black River.
The teenagers are ordered to answer the charges in Rutland and LeRay town courts.
