JCIDA, DANC approve funds for YMCA day-care facility

The boards of the Jefferson County Industrial Development Agency and Development Authority of the North Country approved their financing pieces for the Watertown Family YMCA to develop a day-care facility.

The two agencies and Watertown Local Development Corp. are each contributing $200,000 loans. The Y plans to buy the former Obstetric & Gynecologic Associates of Northern New York, 514 Washington St.

The total project is estimated at $1.5 million to $2 million and will employ 14 in its first year and have spaces for about 80 infants and children. The Y will hold a capital campaign to raise the total needed.
