Cornell Cooperative Extension will host workshops on effective fly management in barns and pastures from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Dwight Greene Dairy, 12873 Route 178, town of Adams, and 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Shawn & Yvonne Bender's farm, Lee Road, Glenfield.
The veterinary entomology program at Cornell University, Ithaca, has developed highly effective integrated programs that help producers minimize fly problems and protect animal health, the environment and net profitability.
Topics of the workshops include insecticide resistance of house flies, biological control of house and stable flies, evaluation of physical control methods and importance of dung beetles in manure pats.
